AHRC-funded PhD Studentship in Modern European Philosophy

An AHRC-funded PhD studentship is available with Kingston University’s Centre for Research in Modern European Philosophy (CRMEP), the leading centre for postgraduate level study and doctoral research in Continental Philosophy in the UK.

This award is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) under its Capacity Building programme and is available to start from October 2013. Funding is for three years full time study (or the part time equivalent) and covers all tuition fees and, where eligible, a tax-free stipend of approximately £15,590 pa (including London Allowance). Proposals are invited for research in any area of Modern European Philosophy consistent with the aims of CRMEP and the interests and expertise of supervisory staff.

Eligibility
Applicants are expected to hold a good honours degree in a relevant subject and to have attained a good result (merit or distinction or equivalent) in a postgraduate qualification (MA or equivalent) in Philosophy or a related discipline relevant to their research.

UK applicants and EU applicants who have been resident in the UK for at least three years immediately preceding the start of their course are eligible for the full scholarship covering stipend and tuition fees. EU applicants who have not been resident in the UK for three years immediately preceding the start of their course are eligible for a fees-only award. Non-EU applicants are not eligible to apply.

Awards are available for both full-time and part-time students.

Applicants should send a CV, a brief research proposal of around 1,000 words, a letter of application outlining their potential contribution to the CRMEP, and the names of two referees to:
